My name is Karen
I am a mother of 3, an accountant, and an avid gardener turned furniture refinisher.
In 2020 I decided to refinish my own bedroom furniture due to a limited budget. I found two pieces that I liked at a church sale and started to learn the basics of refinishing. At that time painting the furniture was the only thing I was comfortable with because my husband is a painter by trade, and he could guide me. Since then, I’ve learned the art of the used furniture market that includes restoration, refurbishing and refinishing. Each piece of furniture requires its own set of skills to bring it back to life. No two projects are ever the same.
For more than four and a half years, I’ve transformed furniture for clients, family, and friends, giving each piece new life while contributing to a more sustainable future.
Every choice to refurbish and reuse helps minimize waste and protects our environment. Together, we can make a difference - let’s choose to reuse!

I am fortunate to have known Karen personally for years. I’ve seen projects she has completed & been in awe of her ability to turn ugly into gorgeous.
My first item that Karen worked on was front porch glider. So comfortable but junky looking. I had tried to stain and paint it over the years and had accepted that it was headed to the junk pile. Then Hill Top Refinishing took over. Karen discussed stain vs. paint, asked my thoughts, offered her opinions, and took over. That glider is so beautiful!
